Desert Spiny Lizard Sceloporus magister

The Desert Spiny Lizard is native to desert habitat of southern USA and northern Mexico. The loosely overlapping scales give it the name "spiny". Adult length is some 5 inches. Colour is lighter in summer and darker in winter for temperature regulation. The breeding male is more colourful, with indigo blue on its belly and greenish blue on its sides.
