The Madagascar Collared Iguana, also called Cuivier's Madagascan Swift, the Collared Iguanid Lizard and
Madagascar Spiny-tailed Iguana, is one of two spiny-tailed, arboreal iguanas native to Madagascar.
It reaches 40cm length and lives in western tropical forests of Madagascar. There is also a subspecies on Grand Comore Island.
It is a close relative of Merrem's Madagascar swift, Oplurus cyclurus.
Iguana's/iguanid lizards are found mainly in the Americas but some remained on the island of Madagascar millions
of years ago when continents where arranged differently than today.
