The pretty Yellow-headed Day Gecko is endemic to northern Madagascar. A small, slender gecko,
they can grow to 9cm length and are active during the day.
From this angle, the yellow head is not the most prominent feature -- I'm dazzled by the turquoise side stripe.
They live mainly in bamboo forest and eggs are laid in bamboo cane.
Geckos have special pads on their feet that work a little like suction pads enabling them to run up plate glass windows and across ceilings.
The rounded fingers and toes distinguish geckos from lizards.
