The attractive Turquoise Dwarf Gecko, also called Williams' Dwarf Gecko and the Electric Blue Gecko,
is endemic to a small region of Tanzania.
It is facing extinction through illegal capture for the pet trade, exacerbated by
habitat destruction. A captive breeding project is underway to try to ensure its survival.
Only the male is bright blue. Both have an orangey-yellow underside.
The female is olive green with a range from brown to bright green and sometimes with some turquoise.
They live only in the tops of screwpine trees (also endemic to their small region).
Males are territorial and often one will defend a single tree.
