The Knob-headed Giant Gecko is native only to forests on the southern end of New Caledonia. It is also called the New Caledonian Bumpy Gecko and the Gargoyle Gecko.

They are nocturnal and arboreal, have a prehensile but detachable tail and have small bumps and flaps on the back of the head. They can leap up to three times their body length. Their habitat is threatened by deforestation.
