Bearded Pygmy Chameleon Rieppeleon brevicaudatus

The Bearded Pygmy Chameleon is native to mountains of Kenya and northeastern Tanzania. It can vary its colouring slightly.

Being smaller and less colourful than other chameleons and having a much shorter tail allows it to be camouflaged as a dead leaf. Males have a stronger pattern of stripes and a higher dorsal crest.

It reaches some 8cm length. It has a few raised scales under its chin giving it the "bearded" name.
