Peter's Rock Agama, also called the African Redhead, is native to rocky and woodland habitat of West Africa.
It is also an invasive species in Florida and the Caribbean, having escaped or been released from the pet trade.
The adult male, above, has an orange head, black body and a white, orange and black tail in the breeding season.
The scientific name means painted tail. Larger males can grow to around 30cm (one foot) long (including tail).
The female, above, remains a camouflage brown.
