The South Indian or Peninsula Rock Agama is native to rocky terrain in southern India. They can grow to over 30cm long (including tail). The adult male, above left, turns bright red or orange/yellow with black in the breeding season. The female, above centre and right, has an intricate, cryptic pattern for camouflage.
