A slightly smaller version of the common Large Yellow Underwing, its upper wing pattern and shade is quite variable like its larger cousin; its beautiful orange-yellow underwing with black border has also a black spot (not visible unless wings fully open - see below) and may also have black specs unlike the Large Yellow Underwing.
