The wax moth caterpillar (see below) is a pest to beehives since it feeds on the bees' wax. Like most things in nature, it has a purpose;
it cleans up abandoned bees' nests.

The male wax moth is more patterned than the plainer female and the rear forewing is concave.
This one assumed an unusual resting position with its abdomen curled upwards.
