The Common Rustic is a very variable moth with some of its forms looking remarkably similar to other "Rustic" moths. In addition, it has been split into three species which are almost indistinguishable: the Common Rustic, the Lesser Common Rustic and Remm's Rustic.

These two Common Rustic moths were attracted to the wasp trap on an aviary. They were extracted alive and released.
