Related to the Pale Mottled Willow, Clancy's Rustic is native to southern/central Europe and western Asia.
It was not classed as a British moth until this millenium when they started to turn up regularly in Kent in late summer. Named
after one of the early trappers to identify it in 2002, it has a wingspan of around 30mm and the reddish-brown spot is distinctive.
In mainland Europe it flies between May and October. These were photographed in Tenerife.
