The Lobster moth is named after its pinkish caterpillar which adopts some strange defensive shapes reminiscent
of a lobster claw. It is native to much of Eurasia including woodland in southern Britain. Wingspan is typically 45-60mm.
UK flight time is May to July. The strange-looking caterpillars feed on trees such as beech and oak.
