The Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner moth, such a long name for such a tiny pest, was described as a new species only in 1986 (in the Balkans)
but has since spread across Europe, reaching the UK by 2001/2. Its larvae make unsightly blotches when "mining" horse chestnut trees but
do not seem to damage the tree itself or the chestnuts.
Wingspan: 8-10 mm
UK flight time: Apr-Sep.
