Large Emerald Moth Geometra papilionaria

The beautiful Large Emerald moth is more like a butterfly with its bright colour (when new in its first week), its size (50-60mm wingspan) and, mostly, the shape and typical resting posture (above left). In fact its Latin name means butterfly. These photos were not taken by me. The photo above centre with the moth in an untypical resting position is by Bernie Lawrance.
