Named after the brass-coloured patches which have a metallic shine in direct light, the Burnished Brass is surprisingly well-camouflaged, particularly on its chosen habitat of waste ground. A summer-flying moth, it can have two generations between early and late summer, caterpillars feeding on nettles.
