Named after the brass-coloured patches which have a metallic shine in direct light, the Burnished Brass is surprisingly well-camouflaged,
particularly on its chosen habitat of waste ground. A summer-flying moth, it can have two generations between early and late summer, caterpillars feeding on nettles.
Wingspan: 28-35 mm
UK flight time: Jun-Sep
The brassy yellow can appear quite green in some lights.
