Blastobasis adustella is native to Australia but (like
Tachystola acroxantha) has been imported and settled in UK and Europe.
Photo above right compares it to common Clothes Moth.
Blastobasis adustella used to be called Blastobasis lignea but that name also belonged to Blastobasis vittata
from Madeira. (Blastobasis lacticolella
also from Madeira has spread to UK/Continental Europe.)
Despite the bold white cross marking on its back, B. adustella is sometimes called the Dingy Dowd. Wingspan 15-20mm; UK flight time Aug-Sep.
