The Middle White Pig's imaginative name results from a cross between the Large White and the (extinct)
Small White breeds, created in the 1850s in Yorkshire.

Piglets have a whitish or pink body with white hair; adults are hairy and can develop a pale offwhite or honey colour.
They have a particularly short, upturned snout and pricked up ears, features from the oriental-inspired Small White ancestor.
Originally bred mainly for meat (pork/bacon), they are now often used for conservation grazing since the short
snout results in them grazing more and digging less than other breeds.
