Horseguards and Riding Equus ferus caballus

The UK's Horseguards (Lifeguards), the Blues and Royals and the Household Cavalry, appear mainly on ceremonial occasions but are serving equestrian soldiers.

The Mounted Police are also used to guard the soldiers and at crowd events such as football matches and demonstrations.

Thoroughbred Arabian horses are usual for racing, horse shows and even pulling light carriages on special ocasions.

Other horses and ponies are common for a variety of working and leisure riding.
