The domestic Donkey is descended from the African Wild Ass. Donkeys have been used throughout the world
as pack animals and for draught and riding for thousands of years.
It is typically grey but can be black, brown, white or mixed and has a white under belly and muzzle, long ears
and a dark cross on its withers (shoulders).
They are usually strong and sure-footed and often stubborn.
Male donkeys are called Jacks, female are Jennies and babies are foals.
