The European Polecat is mainly dark with dominant dark guard hairs over a light undercoat.
It has a dark mask over its face continuing to the underside and the light bordered ears have a dark back.
The Polecat is the wild cousin of the domestic Ferret.
Differences include the Polecat's dark coat, more rounded face, fuller mask and dark back of ears. A rare red form of Polecat also happens.
