The domestic Pygmy Goat, also called the African Pygmy Goat and Cameroon Pygmy Goat, was originally bred from
dwarf West African goats, mainly from Cameroon.
The most common fur colour scheme is reminiscent of the Cameroon Sheep and their Mouflon ancestry, and also of
the Bezoar Ibex thought to be the wild ancestor of domestic goats, with a light brown background, black lines
on body and face, black legs and white saddle markings.
However, they can come in other colour patterns, particularly black and white or grey and many have a mixed heritage.
They are intelligent, playful and curious and particularly favoured as hardy pets.
Their friendly nature makes them a staple of farm and zoo children's/petting areas.
