Roe Deer, unlike Fallow Deer, are native to Britain. Like almost all true deer, the male (above, called a "buck" rather than a "stag") sheds and re-grows his antlers each year.

The coat is redder in summer and greyer in winter. They have a black nose and white chin. They are usually solitary or in small family groups.
