Edilbay Sheep are a domestic sheep breed developed in Kazakhstan to cope with nomadic steppe life and harsh conditions.

They are a "fat-tailed" breed, building two fatty lumps on their rear when food is plentiful to use when food is scarce (mid-winter and summer drought). They also provide nomadic, steppe people with milk, meat, fat and coarse wool.
