Vicuňa Vicugna vicugna

Vicuňas (also spelt vicugnas) are wild relatives of the domestic Alpaca and, like them, Vicuňas are native to the Andean regions of South America. Living at high altitude, their coats are made up of extra soft, extra warm, sheep-like wool. They are also related to Camels.

Vicuňas live in small family herds lead by an adult male. Unlike Alpacas, their coats are always a uniform reddish-brown colour.
