The Visayan Spotted Deer, also called the Philippine Spotted Deer and Prince Alfred's Deer, is native to dense forested slopes
on two islands of Visayan in the Philippines.
It was formerly also found in open grassland and on several other islands but is now rare and endangered.
A small, dark, spotted deer, it reaches up to 80 cm at the shoulder. Distinguishing features include the white chin and cream underparts.
The buck has antlers; the doe does not.
The spots provide camouflage. The deer is mainly nocturnal.
