Pere David's Deer is a large and strangely-shaped deer from a small area of northeast China. Over 4 feet tall at the shoulder, it is slightly taller than Red Deer. Named after French missionary Armand David, it is currently extinct in the wild but a re-introduction programme from stock from Woburn Abbey, England, is underway.
