The Blesbok is a subspecies of the similar-looking Bontebok.
It is native to open plains of South Africa, it's name meaning antelope with a white blaze on its face.
Male and female look similar, both with the white blaze and horns.
A few hundred years ago, Blesbok were common in vast herds but they were hunted
for meat, skins and "sport" to the brink of extinction and are now protected from further hunting.
