Coquerel's Sifaka is a lemur native to forests of northwest Madagascar. It is one of 9 species of sifaka,
all of which are vulnerable or critically endangered, mainly through hunting and habitat loss.
Sifakas move in trees and on the ground, the latter by hopping sideways in a ballet-like motion.
They can leap some 10 metres (33 feet) per jump.
They live in small, matriachal groups, are vegetarian and territorial. Male and female have similar appearance.
The name sifaka comes from the sound of their alarm call.
