The Potto is related to Lorises and Bushbabies and, like them, it is nocturnal and arboreal. It is native to
tropical rainforests of southern West Africa and Central Africa.
They have toxic secretions to deter predators and leave urine trails on trees to mark territory.
Threats include habitat destruction and collection for the bush meat, traditional medicine and pet trades.
Like Lorises, the Potto has a shortened index finger and a tooth comb for grooming plus a "toilet claw".
Its neck vertebrae are pointed and sharp, used to neck-butt opponents. It has a strong bite.
