Syke's Monkey is also known as the White-throated Monkey, as in its Latin name, after the distinctive white
throat with white muzzle lines and part collar.
"Who, me?"
It has several subspecies over its large range from Ethiopia to north-eastern South Africa on the east side and
Democratic Republic of Congo on the west of Africa (with a gap in the centre).
It is sometimes included in the "mitis" species with the similar-looking Blue or Diademed Monkey
and sometimes given its own "albogularis" species.
Males are larger than females. Like some other Guenon species, they live in single gender groups;
the female group, led by senior females, includes one breeding adult male at times and male youngsters.
