Patas Monkey is the world's fastest monkey since it lives mainly on Africa's Savannah grasslands and needs to run to escape predators.
It has been recorded at over 50 km/hour.
Also called the Red Guenon, it has several other, mainly local, names. Its range is north of the equator from Senegal in the west to Sudan in the east.
Patas has orange fur on its head, back and sides, a pale grey front, black extended eyebrows and usually a black nose.
Males are larger than females.
They live in single gender groups of up to 50-60 individuals; the female group, led by senior females,
includes one breeding adult male at times and male youngsters.
