Diana Monkey Cercopithecus diana

The Diana Monkey is said to be named after the bow-shaped white brow resembling the bow of Diana, the goddess of hunting. They are native to West Africa (Sierra Leone to Ghana).

Living in groups of mainly females and young with a dominant male, they have distinctive calls for different predators/dangers, understood by some other animals including birds.

Eating mainly fruit, seeds and vegetation, they can hold a stomach load of food in their cheek pouches.

Not just black and white, but grey and red. They are hunted by leopards, eagles, chimpanzees and man.
