Black-crested Mangabey Lophocebus aterrimus

The Black-crested Mangabey is native to forests of equatorial and tropical Central/Western Africa, - Congo and Angola. Mangabeys communicate with a range of facial expressions as well as shrieks, whoops, grunts and chuckles.

The black quiff and grey, protruding sideburns are distinctive.

They are threatened by hunting for bushmeat, especially by loggers, and by deforestation.
