The Red-bellied Brown Lemur is native to areas of rainforest in eastern Madagascar.
The male (above) has an all dark red-brown coat of dense fur and prominent white patches on his face below his eyes.
He has an oily scent gland on his head.
The female, above, has muted white face markings and has a white chest.
The Red-bellied Lemur is vulnerable, having suffered population loss from habitat destruction for agriculture and from hunting.
