The cuddly Mongoose Lemur is native to a limited range of northwest Madagascar. Much of their range
has been lost to clearance for farming, cattle grazing, logging and charcoal production.
They are also caught in hunting traps and are critically endangered. The adult male, above, has a red throat.
The female, above, has a white throat and chest.
They live in trees in small family groups, usually of a bonded pair and offspring.
