The Crowned Lemur, named after the patch of orange fur on the brow (and/or the black cap), is native to the most northerly point of Madagascar.
The male (above) has a large orange crown made up of two triangles plus a black cap. He also has a grey-brown coat and red tail.
The female, above, has a weaker crown, no black cap and a grey coat. She has a grey tail.

The Crowned Lemur is endangered through slash and burn habitat destruction for mining and charcoal production and also
from illegal logging and from hunting.
