Francois' Langur Trachypithecus francoisi
Francois' Langur, also called Francois' Leaf Monkey, is native to forests of a small region of
southern China and north-east Vietnam.
It has distinctive white, elongated sideburns on its otherwise black fur and face and, like all langurs, a long tail.
Babies are born ginger and turn black in a few months.
They live in matriarch-led groups of about a dozen. Diet is mainly leaves, but also fruit and seeds.
It is endangered due to hunting, mainly for use in traditional medicines (eg Black Ape Wine), and habitat loss.
