The Red Howler Monkey, also called Venezuelan Red Howler to distinguish from split out Bolivian and Guyanan species, is native to
the very west of Venezuela and also to most of Colombia and part of Ecuador, Bolivia and a small part of Brazil.
Howler monkeys get their name from their call which can be heard a long distance through forest.
This saves energy on their low-energy diet of leaves. They have prehensile tails for their arboreal lifestyle and live in small, mixed groups.
