The Lar Gibbon, also called the White-handed Gibbon, is native to now fragmented tropical forests in Thailand, Malaysia and parts of Indochina, although probably no longer in China itself.

Male and female have similar appearance. Fur of either can be black, dark brown, honey-/golden-coloured or light fawn-white, always with light fawn-white hands, feet and face border.
