The Plantain Squirrel, also called the Oriental and the Tricoloured (confusingly since there are many
other oriental and tricoloured tree squirrels), is native to the Malaysian peninsula and parts of Thailand and Indonesia.
It has an orange-coloured belly (difficult to see) bordered with pale fur and a black line, giving a tricolour on each flank.
Possibly the ones above have yet to develop the black and orange colours, or they may be a variant or separate race.
It runs and jumps very quickly through trees and will take food up into the trees to eat, helping to disperse fruit seeds.
Juveniles.
