Tree Shrews (also Treeshrews), native to Southeast Asia, are not true shrews but are more related to primates. For this
reason they have sometimes been used in medical research in place of rodents or primates. They have a higher brain to
body mass ratio than any other mammal (including humans). Most are diurnal and eat insects and fruit.
The Northern Tree Shrew, also called Belanger's Tree Shrew, shown, is native to much of Southeast Asia mainland.
