The Zorilla, also called (African) Striped Polecat, is a polecat native to savannahs and
arid grasslands of sub-Saharan Africa.
"Zorilla" means little fox in Spanish. They are nocturnal, mainly solitary and have sharp claws
for burrowing. Like other polecats, they are carnivores, eating rodents, birds, reptiles and invertebrates.
The back is skunk-like, with the black and white stripes as a warning. Like skunks, they can release
a spray from anal glands which has a pungent odour and can temporarily blind an attacker.
