The Gray (Grey) Short-tailed Opossum, also called Brazilian Opossum, is native to Brazil, south of the Amazon Basin,
east Bolivia, north Paraguay and Argentinian border areas. It is between mouse- and rat-sized and is not a true marsupial
since females do not have a pouch - young cling to the belly. It is solitary and nocturnal. (The one shown has had infected ears clipped.)
Fur is grey with a paler grey underside. It has a semi-prehensile tail. It is mainly carnivorous, eating
rodents up to its own size, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, with some fruit.
