The African Striped Grass Mouse, also called the Zebra Mouse, is native to Africa. It is one of several related species of striped
African mice, all except "barbarus/Barbary" from sub-Sahara.
The Striped Mice are active during the day, mainly the cooler part of the morning/late afternoon, and while foraging help
pollinate several plants, particularly Protea species.
They live in burrows under bushes and in long grass. Some species are also kept as domestic pets.
The Barbary Striped Grass Mouse, L. barbarus, row immediately above, is native to coastal Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
