Maned Wolf Chrysocyon brachyurus

The Maned Wolf isn't closely related to the Grey or Red Wolves nor to foxes. It is like a large, very tall, long-legged, red fox with long black socks and a black nape which can be raised as hackles.

The Maned Wolf is native to South America, where it is the largest wild canine species.

It is solitary or paired and uses its long legs to hunt in long grass.

It is mainly nocturnal.

The ears are large and the tail is mainly white. Pups have darker fur.
