The Coyote is a jackal-like wild dog native to North America. It is much smaller than
its close relative, the Grey Wolf.
Shown in the summer coat, the greyer winter coat is more wolf-like. They live and hunt in small packs.
They occasionally hybridise with both wolves and domestic/feral dogs.
Both the Red Wolf and the Eastern Wolf have DNA in varying proportions from both the Grey Wolf
and the Coyote, but are now classed as intermediate species rather than hybrids.
