The Rusty-spotted Cat is one of the two smallest of the wild cats. It is native to India and
Sri Lanka but choses different habitats in each, preferring mainly rainforest in Sri Lanka but dry forest and grassland
in India (possibly due to competition from Leopard Cats in Indian rainforest).
Mainly nocturnal, mainly terrestrial and generally solitary, the coat is basically grey with rusty lines and spots.
Prey is rodents, birds and lizards.
The species is vulnerable through continued habitat loss.
