Geoffroy's Cat is native to open woodland, scrub and savanna of the Gran Chaco in central and southern South America,
from the southern Bolivia/southern Brazil to southern Argentina. It is about the size of a domestic cat, with a fawn (northern) or greyish
(southern) background, small, dark spots and a ringed tail. Melanistic individuals are known.
It is solitary and mainly nocturnal. Prey is mainly ground mammals (rodents, hares), birds,
small snakes and lizards. It has been known to interbreed with the Southern Tiger Cat (Southern Oncilla).
