The Giant Magnolia Snail is native to one small tropical forest area of Vietnam where it spends the day hiding in leaf litter. The shell can grow to 7 cm (3 inches) diameter.

It is critically endangered. Described over 100 years ago, it was thought to be extinct but a small surviving population was discovered in 2012. Some are being captive bred as a conservation effort.
